The Color Purple author Alice Walker met an English class at Skyline High School in Oakland and challenged them to write a 500-word essay on How I Changed My Own Life. Producer Scott Sanders and actress and Skyline grad LaToya London, who plays Nettie in the acclaimed musical, were also on hand.
